South Grove Golf Course was built in 1902. It was designed by local architect Harry Schopp, who also designed Pleasant Run and Sarah Shank Golf Course. The name “South Grove” comes from the grove of trees that lines the south side of the property. Although relatively flat, the course presents tight, tree-lined fairways. The lay of the land takes advantage of natural features such as gently rolling hills and elevated plateaus for green and tee sites. The course also boasts a view of the Indianapolis skyline being just two miles from downtown. Through the years, this historic and charming golf course has hosted many of the city’s top amateur tournaments. The most popular of these tournaments is the annual South Grove Spring Four-Ball. This tournament dates back to 1948 and begins in April.
